he Briarcliffe Inn is a historic, 100 year old Prince Edward Island farmhouse and award winning Bed
and Breakfast. It sits in a peaceful rural setting amongst open countryside and pastoral scenery.
Many of the original features of the home remain: a turn key doorbell, pocket doors, hardwood
floors, and antique lamps. On the exterior, many of the cedar shanks are still the originals!
Located in the Bedeque area, the Briarcliffe Inn is ideally situated for your island adventure:
- Only 12 minutes from the Confederation Bridge
- 20 minutes from the city of Summerside
- 40 minutes to Cavendish
- and 45 minutes to Charlottetown
The B & B sits on 3 acres of property, so there is plenty of room for a variety of activities. You can
play games like horse shoes, badminton or croquet, lounge with a book in the sunshine, walk through
the woods and gardens and then in the evening, enjoy a glass of wine on the deck as you watch our
outstanding PEI sunsets. Pinks, purples, golds, reds, oranges – the view will take your breath away.
We are just a short walk to Salutation Cove which is perfect for clamming and exploring the tidal flats.
Close by in Fernwood is the 150 year old Seacow Head Lighthouse. It is one of the oldest wood frame
octagonal lighthouses left in the Maritimes.
And for further fun, we have a dozen free range pigs courtesy of Red Pine Farm run by Ranald & Melanie
MacFarlane, just down the road. The pigs are contained by an electric fence and we welcome you to
help us feed them in the morning. They are very sociable and love having their ears rubbed.
Inside the house, there is a large lounge for guests to converse about their day’s adventures, curl up
with a book or play a favourite boardgame. In the winter there is a warm fire to keep you cosy. Coffee,
tea and hot chocolate, as well as, ice tea and homemade cookies are always available.
With no street noises or light pollution we are the perfect place for star-gazing, and getting a restful
night’s sleep. Many guests say that it is the best night’s sleep that they have ever had.
